About Us

Although we are no longer associated with Salford Royal, and are now known as 'Andante' Choir, for banking and Charity Commission purposes we are still officially 'Salford Hospital Choir'.

The Choir emerged in the 1970s from a massed hospitals' choir which took part in an annual Carol Concert organised by the Sir Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children (now Clic Sargent).

We celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2017.

The Choir enjoyed patronage and support from the Hospital Trust.

Concerts are given mainly for Charitable Organisations in venues from local Churches to the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

Repertoire ranges from Oratorio to Rock, Bach to Lloyd Webber.

In 2003 we received a grant from Salford Community Chest to obtain a new digital piano and speaker/amplifier. We were able to replace these in 2018 using a grant received from the Hospital Trust. We take the equipment to venues which have no instrument available.

We have performed most of our concerts in the following areas:

Salford     Eccles     Monton     Patricroft     Worsley     Boothstown     Pendlebury     Prestwich     Urmston     Heywood     Caton (Lancaster)     Manchester     Woodley (Stockport)
